Abby Southers, LMSW

I am a social work professional with a graduate degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. I work with both children and adults and am passionate about creating a warm, affirming, and judgment-free space where clients can feel safe being their authentic selves.

I take a collaborative and individualized approach to therapy, drawing from a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Psychodynamic Therapy. I am especially passionate about working with neurodiverse individuals and helping clients better understand themselves, build confidence, develop coping strategies, and navigate everyday challenges.

When working with children and neurodiverse clients, I can incorporate sensory-based strategies, social skills development, emotional regulation, communication skills, and practical daily-life skills into treatment. I strive to make therapy engaging, accessible, and tailored to each client's strengths, needs, and interests.

I am also queer-friendly and LGBTQ+ affirming and welcome clients from diverse identities, backgrounds, and family structures. I believe therapy should be a space where every person feels respected, understood, and accepted without judgment.

My goal is to meet clients where they are, build a strong therapeutic relationship, and work together toward meaningful, sustainable change.
