Laurain Hackett, LMSW

Laurain earned her LMSW license after receiving her Master of Social Work from the University of Kentucky in May of 2024. She has experience working with multicultural persons, specifically the Alaskan Native population in rural areas. Laurain has diverse, professional training in the mental health field to include Mindfulness-Based Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. She also has a certification in Brainspotting, an alternative Trauma-Processing Therapy. She enjoys working with individuals of all ages, but is most experienced in treating teens and adults

Laurain has worked in both individual and group settings, treating substance use disorders, personality disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders and other mental health issues.  She most recently worked in Alaska as a therapist, and as a facilitator for an Intensive Outpatient Substance Abuse Program. She has experience in the child welfare and social services sector as well as the U.S. Army, where she worked with Active Duty soldiers and assisted them with their mental health needs. Being an Army veteran herself, she can relate to the hardships our service members and their families endure on a routine basis.

Her approach to therapy is strength-based and empowerment therapy while focusing on self-acceptance, self-growth, and mindfulness. She believes her clients have the power to control their own destinies and is looking forward to accompanying individuals on their growth journey.
